Our History

Chi Eta Phi Sorority is a professional organization of registered nurses and nursing students. Aliene C. Ewell, RN organized the Sorority on October 16, 1932 with the assistance of 11 other courageous registered nurses. The charter chapter, Alpha, was organized at Freedman’s Hospital in Washington D.C. for two specific purposes: (1) elevating the plane of nursing and (2) increasing interest in the field of nursing. The graduate and undergraduate (Beta) chapters are grouped into five regions according to geographic areas. The chapters are located throughout the United States, District of Columbia and St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Island. Guided by the motto “Service for Humanity”, the Sorority has Programs focusing on health promotion/disease prevention, leadership development, mentoring, recruitment, retention and scholarship.

Objectives

Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. is a professional organization for registered professional nurses and student nurses (male and female) representing many cultures and diverse ethnic backgrounds. More than 8000 Registered Nurses and Student Nurses hold membership in Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc.

The Delta Eta Eta Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. was Chartered June 3, 2017 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Delta Eta Eta is a distinguished and dynamic chapter known for its unwavering commitment to the ideals and principles of the sorority. Founded with a mission to promote community service, leadership, and professional development, Delta Eta Eta serves as a beacon of excellence and empowerment within the Chi Eta Phi network. The chapter’s members are dedicated to upholding the sorority’s values through various outreach programs, educational initiatives, and collaborative efforts that positively impact their local and broader communities. Their vibrant activities and steadfast dedication exemplify the sorority’s mission of service and sisterhood, reflecting the strength and unity that define Chi Eta Phi.
